About the Lecture

PSA is currently presenting the first exhibition of the French artist Christian Boltanski, “Recalling the House”. In the works of Polttanski, memory constitutes a distinct theme. It seems that those unforgettable memories are like a heavy nebula, surrounded by the historical scars of the indelible genocide. But in the eyes of today's reflectors, it is reasonable to spread the power of this chaos to become the true temporal foundation and cosmic ontology in the sense of Bergson.

In "Untimely Meditation," Nietzsche once angered the "historical fanaticism" that pervaded Europe at the time; now, when facing the works of Polttanski, we should both listen to Nietzsche’s warnings, but at the same time The generative energy of the memory sealed in history is fully released.

In this lecture, Jiang Yuhui will focus on a few representative works of Poltowski, trying to further explore the thinking of time, death and fate. This is not a philosophical tour, but a look forward to a long talk between artists and philosophers.
